and in Michel van der Aa's work it is
often a character in them,
never merely a tool.

We approach technology with curiosity and with care. We start from the human story, and we ask the ethical questions before we build: what a new technology does to the people who meet it, and who benefits. We evaluate emerging technologies such as AI critically and look at their ethical implications as part of every project, as in Theory of Flames, Upload and Eight.

We use AI as a tool: to help shape ideas, sketch texts and create mood boards. We do not use AI to generate content for our performances, in image or in music, and we are always the creator of our own creative output.

We credit the people who create the work, and we choose sustainable cloud providers, keep our data storage lean, and reuse digital equipment across productions, as described in our environmental policy.
